Jag har i uppgift i skolan att skriva en analys om en novell vi läst. Det viktigaste var inte att följa sättet man skriver analysen på utan att man inte skulle ha några grammatiska fel. Men även att jag skriver det som en analys.
ANALYSE OF HE WILL NEVER KNOW

He will never know is a short story written by the American author Richard Sherman. There are only 3 characters in the story, the ex-husband, William Rennel, the ex-wife Janet and the narrator, who is unnamed.
The story is about a couple who have lived happily together for 6 years, but suddenly the wife runs away to California with there 3 months old son without giving her husband any information why she left him. It’s like this the story begins and you starts to wonder why she left him, he seams to be such a good and lovely person. Who decides to leave a happily marriage just like that?
The narrator meets Janet, the wife, for a casual lunch in San Francisco and they talks about everything you can talk about, except her broken marriage.
It seems like Janet avoid talking about it like she feels guilt or something like that. The narrator offer Janet a job but she tells him that she don’t want it, she wants to rest for a time. Here I got the feeling that she use William and that he loves her that much so he can pay everything for her and the baby.
The narrator and Janet starts to talk about all the novels and short stories William have wrote true time and here I find out that everything that William have wrote is about his wife and the stories is a analyse of her life, their wedding night, how it’s to have a hangover. He even wanted her to have an affair with another man just so he could write about it. I also got the opinion that he only got his wife pregnant just so he could write a book about it.
When you read this part of the text, you start to wonder what kind of husband he is; maybe he isn’t the lovely husband that you think he was. I totally changed my opinion about him.
The ending is very surprising, it was very abrupt. The title “He will never know” can have two meanings. William will never know why his wife left him, or he will never know how it is going to be to kill his wife.
The story is kind of short and the author doesn’t tell you much about the setting and place. You find out that the place is a dinner in San Francisco. The story could be written for 50 years ago or maybe yesterday. You see everything through the narrator’s eye.
I can’t really tell what the theme in the story is but a think it’s about how a lovely husband can turn out to be a real psycho who maybe even wants to kill his wife just so he can write a story about it.
I like these kinds of stories when you can’t see the ending, and then boom, you understand it.

De flesta felen hittade jag när jag läste igenom allting en gång till. Men där var några småsaker som jag missat. Tack så hemskt mycket Skarre för att du tog dig tid, även du Ekström.
Det jag däremot inte visste var hur analysis stavades, tur att jag ändrade det, hade varit lite pinsamt annars ;)
