2k eller 98?

Vad är bäst? W2k eller w98? Jag ska använda burken till databas mot webben. Grafik, m.m. Ej spel. Ingen musik,

Då har du möjlighet till att installera IIS som är M$ webmotor. (du får en webserver helt enkelt)

m.a.o. Du kan utveckla dina webar lokalt på maskinen med "samma" förutsättningar som på webben. Med en bättre, stabilare och många gånger snabbare än pws som du måste använda på de andra OS'n från M$..... dock inte någon typ av NT. (vet iofs inte hur det är med NT 3.x och deras web server mjukvara, om det ens fanns någon.)

Hur fungerar Win2k med PHP och mySQL då?

Tror att det funkar fint...
Har faktiskt inte provat alls.

Men kollade lite på PHP för w2k på nätet och det fanns dock nån lösning där som gjorde att det skulle fungera.

Fick lite dålig information om vad PHP modulen innebar för något.
Fast det lät som om det skulle fungera.
Huruvida det är med mySQL så vet jag faktiskt inte.

PHP och MySQL funkar klanderfritt
under Win2000.

Jag skulle dock rekommendera Linux om du ska köra PHP och mySQL mot webben.
mySQL blir nämligen inte gratis till windows förrän operativsystemet blir det.

MySQL är gratis för Windows. Jag har det och PHP4 installerat på Windows 2000 och det fungerar bra. Det finns dock betydligt bättre databasservrar för Windows.

swey....tror du missförstått det där...mysql är INTE gratis för Windows
det är shareware med debugkod kvar fortfarande, som gör att den inte är lika snabb som den "skarpa" versionen
använder du den dock bara för personligt bruk behöver du inte köpa nån licens.

Är inte MySQL under GPL from 3.23.19??

Det trodde jag men även jag kan ha fel.

Är inte den bästa på engelska, men som jag förstår det så kan man ladda ner MySQL och använda det gratis så länge man inte tjänar pengar på hemsidan.

Nope, den är fri för kommersiellt bruk.

Om mySQL är inbakad (eng: embedded) i en kommersiell produkt så måste man dock licensera den.

Alltså, använder man mySQL som databasmotor för låt säga en kommersiell e-handelsplats så är den fri att använda, men man bör köpa support från mySQL.
