samba startar... inte... ?

När jag startar samba på min redhat 7.1 maskin så säjer den att allt går bra. Men när jag kör smb -status så säjer den att allt är nere och det går inte att komma åt maskinen... Hur ska jag fixa detta?

Det enda som är ändrat från default är att jag har lagt till hybris som workgroup, caste prev.. och lagt till tmp som share.

Du försöker accessa din linux burk från en Win klient?
Om så är fallet
enabla Encrypted passwords
Lägg till ett Share ex. /mnt/cdrom
synka unix user & smb users
starta om smb

Nej nej nej nej... ni är ute och cyklar båda två...

Jag visar från min telnetfönster

[root@linux daniel]# /etc/init.d/smb status
smbd är stoppad
nmbd är stoppad
[root@linux daniel]# /etc/init.d/smb start 
Startar SMB-tjänster: [  OK  ]
Startar NMB-tjänster: [  OK  ]
[root@linux daniel]# /etc/init.d/smb status
smbd är stoppad
nmbd är stoppad
[root@linux daniel]#

Den säjer alltså att den startar samba men den gör det ändå inte fastän jag är root.. :(

Aha
orsaken till att den inte startar är att något är felkonfat

stämmer interface IP med ditt smb interface ip?
[tmp] share kan vara fel utdelat..
står det något i loggen?
/var/log/messages
eller
/var/log/samba/

Var fel i hostfilen... nu ser jag den i windows men kommer inte åt den... ny utmaning...

Slå på krypterade lösenord och skapa en smbpasswd-fil som du lägger samma användare som du loggar in i windows med.. med samma lösenord. Då funkar det för mig iaf ;)

Den säjer att "datorn inte tar emot begäran" fastän jag har slagit av krypterade lösen i windows...

eller hur ska jag göra för att få det att funka med DHCP inställningar.

Jag har bara instruktioner hur man gör med fasta IPn o sånt.

Nu så vill den att jag fyller i lösen fastän jag har samma inlogg och namn på bägge ställena... kan det vara så att jag behöver plocka bort plain_password som jag la till i registret. Isf hur gör jag det?

Det behövs inte med plain passwords
jag rekommenderar starkt att INTE använda det, stor säkerhets lucka med okrypterade lösen

installera webmin & kontrollera allt i Samba därifrån
Synka & lägga till SMB users går fort & enklet..

orsaken till att den inte accepterar är att den inte känner igen ditt username & passwd...
