Går inte så bra att installera mkLinux på nubus PowerBook 5300c:
1. put MkLinux-R1-G7.sit.bin files in their places, från ftp.mklinux.org
2 a. updated with latest vmlinux+installer into mach_servers folder
2 b. tried all kinds of Mach Kernel:s in Extensions folder, e.g. original,
PBTEST01 - all found at ftp.mklinux.org/../wip/
3. downloaded redhat dir at ftp.mklinux.org/pub/mklinux-pre-R1/ppc/ to my
stationary. The stationary boots from external SCSI connected to both it and
the PowerBook 5300c.
4. Carefully chose files from RPMS dir matching base install as defined in
comps file
5. put those files at the PB 5300c
Directory structure on PB 5300c:
root/mach_servers
root/RedHat
OBS. root är under Mac OS alltså direkt på hårddisken, avser inte något som har med linux att göra.
RedHat dir is exactly like at ftp.mklinux.org but with only base files in
RPMS (see step 4)
6. reboot into mkLinux setup
7. get all kinds of error messages during install, both prior to Red Hat
installer and during Red Hat installer. In the Red Hat installer, the errors
show up between the msg-boxes.
8. During Red Hat installer:
...configure authentication / NIS...next: "can't find kernel - click OK"...I
get previous / retry / menu
Previous and retry lack results. I click menu. Menu lets me exit. Msg box
saying: "...system installed..time to reboot".
9. reboot
10. get into the installer again
Possible errors / factors:
* wrong Mach Kernel
* pdisk messed up my partition table?
* doing something wrong at step 8
Something that freezes the install:
when I put Mach Kernel - the latest version from ftp.mklinux.org/../wip in
Extensions folder along with latest vmlinux+installer. I get the first Red
Hat (blue) screen: "welcome..blah blah..[OK]"
Is there anything I haven't tried?
Går det att installera från en HDF+ hårddisk? Dyker inte upp i fdisk. Är en extern SCSI. Intern HD är ATA. Är ATA IDE eller SCSI? Någon som vet?
