# Definition: Unika besökare

Vilken är den vanligaste definitionen av unika besökare? [StatCounter](http://www.statcounter.com/faqs.html#unique) ger följande definition: 

> A unique visitor is determined by cookies. If someone visits your website and does not have a cookie, or their cookie is older than an hour they count as being a unique visitor and a pageload. If someone visits your website and they have a cookie that is less than an hour old, their cookie is updated and they are only counted as a pageload. A pageload is simply the total number of times your page has been accessed, ignoring the unique aspect altogether. This naturally means your pageloads will always be greater than or equal to your unique visitors.

 
[TheCounter](http://www.thecounter.com/help.php#q18) ger följande definition: 

> "Unique visits" means that if someone visits the site 125 times, they are only recorded once as a 'unique' visitor. "All" means it counts all 125 visits, even if it's the same person.

Många olika statistik-tjänster har förstås olika uppfattningar om vad en "unik" besökare är. 'Officiellt' är en "unik" besökare en besökare som använder samma IP inom en 24-timmars period.

Så om du går till samma sida 20 gånger inom 24 timmar så räknas det bara som 1 unikt besök, såvida du inte bytt IP-adress inom den perioden (t ex genom att koppla upp/koppla ner med modem, då får man oftast en ny IP).

Kommer du tillbaka efter att 24 timmar har gått så räknas det som ett nytt unikt besök.
